Neil Anderson's Sandringham Six
Stage 1 V8 based Sandringham 6E-139 Pick-up.
Originally light-green, then blue, and now turning red, this vehicle has been modified through time. When it was new it ran on a 3.5 litre normally aspirated Rover V8, it now runs on a 2.8 litre 6cyl turbocharged Nissan diesel unit.
The VIN plate shows the Hotspur and Land Rover VINs on the same plate. This machine is based around the Land Rover Stage 1 V8.
This Sandringham is the 139 inch wheelbase version, with full time 6x6.
Measurements : 35.5 inches rear to middle axle, 103.5 inches middle to front axle.
Drivetrain :
Standard V8 rear axle, standard V8 springs.
Modified through drive Rover rear axle (i.e. not heavy duty) as centre axle, mounted on heavy duty FRONT springs, mounted further in-board and overlapping the rears.
(i.e. rear of centre spring is nearer the back of the vehicle than the front of the rear).
Standard Stage 1 V8 transmission - LT95, full-time 4WD. (rear prop changed to Range Rover type)
The rest is basically standard Stage 1, except for the vertical exhaust pipe, which comes up on the passenger's side behind the cab.
Neil brought it home from Cornwall at the end of 2004, He reckons it was originally a cherry picker, possibly ex-electricity board, as there are some features on the vehicle which point towards this conclusion.
Door Decals
Neil is trying to find out if the door decals are genuine Hotspur additions. If anybody has seen these decals on another machine, or indeed have any information available on Sandringham Sixes, please e-mail us at admin@lr-mad.co.uk.
